Seojeong Beach (서정), Busan + Jasmine/Buddha's Birthday

We went down to Busan for a 3-day weekend (for Buddha's Birthday....yes...Buddha has a birthday). Buddha's day of birth also coincided with one of my most favoritest people I've had the fortune of knowing this year, Ms. Jasmine LaRue Hagans. And what a better way to celebrate a day of birth than drinking on a beach and then eating pizza on another beach and then visiting a friend's new bar and then seeing live music? I got drunk not once, ladies and gentlemen, but twice on Friday!

Busan is a cool town but unfortunately for us, the next few days didn't have such beautiful weather. We spent most of Saturday in a TGIFridays and a mall, and the majority of Sunday in a Chinese Restaurant (albeit we spent Friday and Saturday there too) and a Starbucks. What the cuss Rain Gods?! I'll be back, Busan...and Scott...

We were the only people on the entire beach wearing swimsuits. Yes, Koreans swim in all their clothes.

Christmas Eve

Despite Franklin's fiasco of waiting for the turkey for two hours, Christmas Eve was a success, even though my $22 pasta salad didn't get eaten (I made it, ingredients are just $$$$). We had party poppers and a white elephant exchange which resulted in a rather inappropriate photo shoot with a face mask.

Thanksgiving

Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, mac & cheese, bread, wine, cake...and best of all...not having to excuse myself from the table from listening to my family bash "liberal left wing" politics. A good Thanksgiving. I am thankful for all y'all, I miss you. Oh, and HOOK EM.

Getting there is half the fun...

This weekend was Chossock (Korean Thanksgiving). We had Friday off from work and while most of Seoul shuts down (many Koreans leave the city for a weekend at grandma's), the foreigners play. We skeet skeeted to Muido, an island roughly 5 hours from my part of town by way of subway, bus and ferry. Our crew of nine had no idea what to expect and no plan, just a destination (we didn't even know the official name of the island until we arrived). Apparently a few other foreigners had similar notions, and we ended up at an all-out wayguk beach party. We rented huts for $40/night (they each slept four) and spent Friday lounging around drinking, laughing, swimming, eating and meeting new people. Plenty of totally heinous American/Canadian guys whom we avoided like the plague, but an all-in-all great two days, the group we had was so fun - made some new friends out of it too.
